Using Dreamweaver to Publish Web Pages on www.stlawu.edu
Prior to beginning, it is a good idea to make a local copy of your W: drive folder, and save it to another location (e.g. S: or T:). Work from your local site, then upload to W: when the draft is completed.
Define your site in Dreamweaver:
If you have already done so, skip to post your pages
- From the Site menu, choose Manage Sites
- Click New > Site
- Click the Basic tab along the top
- Under Site Name, type a name for your site
- Click Next
- For Server Technology , most users will choose - No, I do not want to use a server technology
- Click Next
- For Local folder information, choose Edit local copies on my machine, then upload to sever when ready (recommended)
- In the space below, navigate to (or create) a local folder by clicking on the folder icon to the right of the text area
- This is where you will work and save files before they are uploaded to the web. You can use any folder on your machine or network drive
- Click Next
- How do you connect to your remote server? - choose Local/Network
- What folder on the server do you want to store your files in? - In the space below, navigate to your W: drive folder by clicking on the folder icon to the right of the text area
- Choose this folder
- Click Select
- Click Next
- Choose the desired option for file sharing
- If you are working on the site alone, then choose: No, do not enable check in and check out
- Click Next
