VPN on the Web for Secure Off-Campus Access
What is VPN on the web?
Web VPN allows University personnel to gain secure (ssl encrypted) access to some campus resources from off-campus locations without installing a VPN client. The web VPN creates a virtual encrypted tunnel through the Internet -- no snooping allowed from your home PC all the way through the Internet to the University network. Web VPN allows access to certain resources that are typically only available on-campus, such as network storage and SAINTS (mainframe) access. Additionally, you can use web-based e-mail with this tool to take advantage of secure, encrypted data transfers.
How does it work?
- Open an Internet browswer window and click here: https://vpn.stlawu.edu
- You will be presented with a security certificate the first time, which you must choose to accept
- You will be presented with a login page
- Enter your SLU network ID & password as you would on campus
- Click Login
- You will presented with an acceptance pop-up
- The next page will present web links to campus resources and a start application link
- To access CICS, click the Start Application Access link
- To access to P: or T: drives, enter the following text in the Enter Network Path box
- P: drive \\myslu
- T: drive \\ourslu
