Additional Note:
Sondra (Hedger) Smith joined the IT staff in 2000 as a NYS certified educator and with experience teaching in the public schools and in working with faculty. A 2009 Frye Leadership Institute Fellow, she holds a M.S. in Education (Instructional Technology) from Potsdam College at SUNY ('98), and B.S. (Sociology, History, Secondary Education) from same. As a co-CIO at St. Lawrence since 2006, Sondra has been motivated by developing and leading successful strategic planning and benchmarking efforts while working toward a highly collaborative comprehensive IT assessment plan; as an IT director since 2002, by the challenges inherent in the pedagogically purposeful integration of technology in the liberal arts. At St. Lawrence, Sondra is also responsible for oversight of technology development programming in support of teaching and learning among faculty, staff, and students; for eSpace design and development; and for eVent support campus-wide. She represents the institution as the NITLE liaison, as the primary representative for EDUCAUSE, as a CLAC representative, and as a co-director for the NMC. She has published, presented, and collaborated externally, including EDUCAUSE, ELI, NERCOMP, NITLE and the POD Network. Sondra is co-founder of the Upstate New York Technology Directors (UNYTD) -- a group of highly collaborative colleagues from similar institutions. She is also a proud North Country native who has raised three children with her husband, Pete, on a dairy farm in the Morley-Bucks Bridge area.
