InterWrite Personal Response System (PRS)

The InterWrite Personal Response System ("clickers" or PRS) is a set of small wireless transmitters by which students respond to questions and software by which faculty compose questions and track responses. Consider the following applications for your classroom:

  • as a pretest -- determine level of students understanding, adjust instruction accordingly
  • as a posttest -- assess and adjust lesson planning for the next class using informal/untracked assessment or a quiz
  • in review -- for midterm or final exams

For more information about the pedagogy of this technology, you may find "7 things you should know about ... Clickers" (PDF) and Patti Frazer Lock's Best Practices project "Calculus and the Personal Response System" (Feb., 2006) very helpful. You  may also contact the HelpDesk @ 5770 and request a consultation
with a member of the educational technologies team to discuss using PRS as a pedagogical tool.
