TechFest Plus: Digital Sandbox

Simply stated, the digital sandbox is a place to "play" with new technology. Each year at our Techfest, it's much more than that; it's also a place to:

  • engage live technology demonstrations;
  • gain hands-on technology experience;
  • talk to campus technology support staff;
  • enter to win tech prizes using event participation tickets;
  • meet faculty and staff colleagues from every division;
  • join into conversations about all things tech;
  • talk to local technology vendors;
  • become a contestant;
  • enjoy a snack.
Our 2009 event featured demonstrations of: SLU Blogs, SecondLife, SMART Technologies (AirLiner, SMARTBoard, Sympodium, and SynchronEyes); AverVision CP300 interactive visulalizer (i.e. object/document camera); the TECprogram; APR (Academic Planning and Registration) System; GoogleApps; online training; technology and sustainability; GIS/GPS; Vista/Office 2007 and OSX/Office 2008; "clickers" or PRS (Personal Response System); and -- just for fun! -- the Nintendo Wii. Our Office Services staff and local Verizon Wireless representative were also present to demonstrate and discuss service options.
