- St. Lawrence uses Sophos to filter out thousands of spam emails everyday
- Sophos runs on the St. Lawrence network, and automatically filters out spam before it even reaches your email
- Note: Sophos anti-spam is different than Sophos anti-virus. The anti-virus needs to be download for each individual computer. This can be done here: Sophos Anti-Virus
- While there is no need to set up Sophos anti-spam, there are several options avaible to control who Sophos blocks and who it doesn't.
- To log onto your Sopho's account, go to the St. Lawrence home page and click on the Technology link.
- On the left hand side of the page, under the "Login" menu, click Anti-Spam.
- Enter your St. Lawrence network account username and password

- On the home page, you will see all the spam that Sophos has prevented from entering your email's inbox
- You can view the emails here by clicking the email's subject line
- Sopho's will automatically delete spam after 14 days
- You can delete the emails yourself, although it is perfectly fine to let Sopho's do it for you.

Approve and Block Emails Return to Top
- In the menu on the left, you will see "Approved Senders" and "Blocked Senders"
- These options will allow you to specifically approve an email sender to always reach your inbox, or to always be blocked
- To either approve or block a sender, click the appropriate tab, andthen click Add Sender
- The, add the email address in the text box in the new window. Click Add/Block Sender
- When would you do this?
- Although Sopho's does a good job of recognizing spam, it doesn't catch everything. If you are being spammed by a particular email address consistently, you may want to block them through the means discussed above
- The same goes for approved emails.There are times when Sopho's will block a legitimate email. This can occur when you are sent a confirmation email after registering for a website
