Why use the VPN (Virtual Private Network) client?

Using the VPN client software adds a level of security to the St. Lawrence University network by encrypting information that is exchanged between the network and off-campus users. Once setup, your home computer becomes a virtual part of our campus network, allowing secure access to campus resources. This is highly recommended for most faculty and administrative staff, depending on circumstances. Using the VPN is imperative to data security off-campus; VPN is not required on-campus.
