Sophos Anti-Virus at SLU

SOPHOS Anti-Virus is licensed at St. Lawrence University to include installation on the campus computers of currently enrolled full-time students and also for staff and faculty home computers. We are currently providing SOPHOS for Windows 2000/XP Home and Professional/Vista and Macintosh computers.

Installation and use of this software is at your own risk. The University is not responsible for computer problems that may occur as a result of installing or using this software.

Click on the link below that matches your operating system to access the Sophos download. The program is actually reinstalled, which is a necessary process at least every three months with Sophos software. Please be advised that, depending on your Internet access speed, it can be a lengthy process to download this program.

Alternately, you could choose to update the virus identification files only, which is a much faster download process than reinstalling the entire program. However, program reinstallation will be required by Sophos every three months (whenever a new "engine" is issued) to run the software. Updated virus identification files, or IDEs, will enable Sophos on your computer to identify new viruses that have been discovered since the last engine was released/installed.
