Anti-Spam

All campus email is inspected for spam, viruses and malware.  Messages are handled as follows:

• Message is checked against end user and organizational blocked senders and safe senders lists
• Message is scanned and cleaned of virus and malware content
• Messages that have a high confidence level of spam content is delivered to the Junk E-Mail folder
• The highest confidence level spam is discarded
• All remaining message is delivered to the Inbox

Anti-Virus for University owned computers

Microsoft Windows  

• University owned Microsoft Windows computer are protected by Forefront Endpoint Protection.

Mac OSX

• University owned Macs are protected by McAfee Security.

Remove Sophos anti-virus before installing McAfee Security. To access the following downloads you must enter your username and password.

1. Download, unzip and run the Sophos anti-virus uninstaller.
   1. The 'Sophos anti-virus Removal' window will appear. Select 'Continue'
   2. Select 'Macintosh HD' and 'Continue'
   3. Select 'Install'
   4. Enter your Mac username and password when prompted
2. Download and run the McAfee installer.
   1. The 'Install McAfee' window will appear. Select 'Continue'
   2. If your Mac meets the system requirements, select 'Continue'
   3. Select 'Continue' and 'Agree' for license agreement.
   4. Select 'Macintosh HD' and 'Continue'
   5. Select 'Install'
   6. Enter your Mac username and password when prompted
   7. Select 'Close'

using unsupported software.

Microsoft Windows

• IT recommends Microsoft Security Essentials for student and faculty/staff personal computers.  Remove Sophos Anti-Virus and install Security Essentials.
  

Mac OSX
