Scanning your Computer with Sophos (Macintosh)

• Make sure you have the latest updates
  • Click on the Sophos shield icon in the menu bar and choose Update Now from the menu
  • If you do not have the Sophos shield icon in your menu bar, or Update Now is not a menu choice, contact the HelpDesk at x5770 to have Sophos updated or installed on your computer
• Open the Sophos Anti-Virus application
  • Click on the Sophos shield icon in the menu bar and choose Open Sophos Anti-Virus from the menu
• Make sure there’s a green light beside the drive you wish to scan
  • Otherwise, click the circle beside the specific drive
• Click the button with the green arrow to begin the scan
• The program will sweep your drive(s) checking for viruses and errors
  • If the sweep finds a virus that it cannot disinfect, and a window pops up asking if you want to delete the file, please call the IT HelpDesk (x5770) for further information
