Course Navigation:
Unless the course has been specially customized by the instructor, a course will show the following navigation options:
The Course Tab:
The first screen that appears upon entering any course is the Course page. Your instructor uses this page to post course announcements, news, and question polls. The Activity-at-a-Glance shows your progress in the course – course logons, mail messages, discussion posts and submissions. .
The Calendar Tab:
Some instructors may use this to post events such as appointments, assignments, exam dates, and etc. Using the links in the toolbar, you can select day, week, month, or year view. You may also perform a search for a specific event.
The Course Materials Tab:
This is where most of the content of the course will be accessed. It may contain some or all of the following types of content:
- Folders - These can hold any content elements, and may hold other (sub)folders. For example, your instructor may have a folder set up for each week of the course. Simply click a folder's icon or name to view its contents.
- Pages - These are informational web pages created by your instructor within ANGEL.
- Links - These are hyperlinks added by your instructor to a URL web site outside of ANGEL.
- Quizzes - These are quizzes taken within ANGEL. Your quiz score is recorded within ANGEL.
- Surveys - These are surveys you can take within ANGEL. There are no right or wrong answers. ANGEL keeps track of how many course members gave each answer and submits these results available to the instructor.
- Files - These are files created in another application (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), then uploaded to ANGEL by your instructor.
- Discussion Boards - These are asynchronous threaded discussions (users do not need to be accessing the message board at the same time), where users can read what somebody has previously written (posted) and then respond to it.
- Note: All message boards on the Course Materials tab should automatically appear on the In Touch tab as well (unless your instructor has altered this feature).
- Drop Box - Drop boxes are used to submit course assignments to your instructor by uploading them from your computer. Your instructor may have only one drop box, or they may have one for each assignment.
The Resources Tab:
This tab provides access to web-based resources and documents that are important to your course.
The Communicate Tab:
This tab provides access to course email tools, announcements, discussion forums, and the course roster.
The Report Tab:
This tab provides access to a variety of different activity reports including:
- Grades - A simplified report of all online activities that are assigned a grade, along with instructor comments.
- Attendance - If your instructor takes attendance, this will show you all times you were in attendance. In some courses, an instructor may choose to take attendance by communicating a daily PIN that students must enter on this screen, then click the "Submit" button.
- Activity Logs - Summary of all your course logins and time spent in the course.
- Learner Profile - If enabled, students can review a wide range of course performance measures and statistics.
- Milestones - If enabled, students can review which assignments are completed, pending, or due.
