ElementK Online Training at SLU
To supplement on-campus technology training, Information Technology has entered into an agreement with ElementK, a long-established online training provider offering a wide variety of e-learning modules. We have purchased a limited number of the Office Productivity Library and Design and Media Collection licenses, from which there are dozens of courses to choose!
When reviewing the course options, look for the small laptop icon; we do not have access to the Electronic Instructor-Led Training (elLT) (apple icon) or the Virtual Labs Training (vLabs).
Program Participation Guidelines:
- ElementK courses are available online; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Login requires only an account and a computer with an Internet connection; no special software
- ElementK login occurs off site, maintenance windows are beyond our control
- Accounts are assigned at no charge, on a first come, first served basis, and presuming supervisory approval, if applicable
- Once assigned, a license is available to use at your convenience for 12 months
- All active licenses terminate July 01; a new application process will open at that time
- Approved participants will receive an individual user ID and password, which may not be shared
- Your account is solely for your own use
- Sharing account information is a violation of our licensing agreement with ElementK
- Sharing account information is also grounds for account termination
- An application to participate is considered serious intent to participate
- In the case of account shortages, participants will receive an e-mail notification after thirty (30) days of account inactivity
- At the discretion of the Educational Technologies Resource Manager, an account which has remained inactive ten (10) days thereafter will be terminated and the supervisor notified
- Accounts remaining inactive for 45 days may be deactivated
- Those who have lost a seat will be required to reapply
- You may exit the program at any time by notifying the Educational Technologies Resource Manager
Participation requires supervisory approval for hourly staff:
- Supervisors are encouraged to establish and communicate clear guidelines in advance for all staff members utilizing the program
- Decisions about the appropriateness of utilizing Element K training, during work or otherwise, are to be addressed internally, within each department
- A hard copy of the application, indicating supervisory approval, should be submitted to Jim Forney, Educational Technologies Resource Manager
ElementK offers training in a wide variety of applications, some of which are not supported by Information Technology.
- To obtain support for programs outside the scope of IT responsibility, please plan to access the ElementK help library or other external resources for assistance
