TechFest programming is rich with opportunities to take on new challenges and learn more about the implications for teaching and learning or research. As always, educational technology programming is presented with a pedagogically purposeful perspective.
Participation in any workshop or demostration throughout TechFest generates a ticket for the tech prize drawing on Tuesday, January 17th. SMARTBoards are interactive whiteboards found in many of our eclassrooms. Attend this hands-on workshop to learn how to use this tool effectively, including enhancements, such as the image gallery, found in version 9 of the SMART software.

Attend this workshop to learn more about the technology itself from our own GIS specialists, and to try your hand at it. Attend this workshop to get started with ANGEL learning management system. Participants will practice on a demo course first, but then begin to develop an online course component for the spring semester. ANGEL communication tools (course email, discussion forums, journals, whiteboard, chat) will also be covered within the workshop.
Newcomers should note that BlackBoard or WebCT courses are easily imported!

These workshops will introduce you to Adobe Acrobat Pro and/or Adobe InDesign. If you've not used Acrobat Pro beyond saving a file as a PDF, or if you've never used InDesign to create a publication, this is your opportunity to expand those skills!
Sign up for one or both workshops, but please note that Acrobat Pro is more widely available at this time. Acrobat Pro is available to faculty and staff upon request for office installations; contact the HelpDesk; InDesign is available for teaching and learning in Madill 222, Carnegie 209, Piskor 12 computer labs and in Piskor 214.

Join us to hear more from:
- Patti Frazer Lock, regarding her pilot project with calculus students and the GTCO InterWrite personal response system this fall. Learn about the pedagogical implications for "clickers" in the liberal arts setting.
- Laura Rediehs, who established an ANGEL group for forty advisees (first year, second year or majors), providing resources online, as well as a place for students to interact with each other about advising issues. Learn more about the results of this successful and innovative use of ANGEL.
We conclude TechFest 2006 with tech prize drawings at 3:00 p.m.
The Digital Sandbox (9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon) on Tuesday morning provides a wide variety of hands-on opportunities for faculty and staff to explore emergent technology. - Chris Watts, Center for Arts Technology, will demonstrate technologies used in teaching and learning in the arts, and reveal the grand plan for the new Center for Arts Technology, part of Phase II renovations scheduled to begin in the spring of 2006.
