Verizon Cellular Phone Information

As with Cingular, in-building coverage is exceptional from Verizon Wireless.

If you have a Verizon Wireless cell phone you could end up with roaming charges on your bill that you weren’t anticipating! It is strongly advised that you go through this brief exercise whenever you are traveling outside of the area Verizon Wireless defines as home, which exists within the areas from Plattsburgh to Binghamton to Buffalo.

With your VZW cellular phone powered on, press *228 and the SEND key

• you will be directed to an automated system that provides two menu choices; the first is to program your phone and the second is to update your roaming capabilities
• when the system answers, press the 2 key
  • you will hear music for a few moments and your preferred roaming list (PRL) will be updated automatically.

Nextel and Sprint have recently entered the cellular market in the north country!

Both providers cells will work in Canton although some areas within buildings have weak coverage.
